Good computer for film work but pricy.

Overall, this laptop serves my purposes. It does have some failings, that I’ve come to work around.
    Pros:
Has the big bright screen, with plenty of real estate, thanks to thin borders.
    Keyboard works well.
Lighted keys are easy to find in low lighting.
Speed and power suit my uses.
    Cons:
A few days after the service coverage lapsed, the left and right mouse-clicks on the touch pad failed. It wasn’t all at once, I could hunt around the pad, until the click would happen and the right-click took longer to fail than the left click, but now they are both completely unresponsive. The rest of the pad functions normally. My workaround, I bought a Bluetooth Mouse, for about $20 which I prefer to the pad for control and response.
The only USB ports are USB-C (my other Dell has a mix, which is a pretty big deal sometimes). If I have a peripheral that uses the more common USB-A, the included dongle includes one port for it (along with one HDMI, for connecting to my TV). The docking station for this model is still very expensive IMHO, so that drove my decision to buy a Bluetooth mouse, so I’m not occupying the only USB-A port.
The built-in speakers are OK, but seemingly ordinary levels of bass cause the body of the laptop to ‘buzz’ annoyingly. This means headphones, or external speaker, for listening to any music at all.

Don’t listen to others who say the battery is bad, the touchpad is wobbling, speakers have distortion. Mine is in perfect condition. I was carefully looking at the Amazon return sticker on the package but didn’t find anything like that. My laptop is brand new and in perfect working condition with no issue. The trackpad is really huge and perfect, palm rest is very comfortable and made with kevlar and with a soft-touch finish, typing on it is a pleasure. Materials are the best in class, battery life is good (about 15 hours on the web with 50% brightness and youtube watching, Facebook, and mail). So if you know that you want this laptop then you can not worry to buy this. I had Microsoft Surface Laptops all models and after them, I worried to have something that is not as comfortable and beautiful as Surface, but DELL changed my mind, now this is my favorite brand and XPS is the best model for me. I’m doing CAD work, very much 3D, electronics, mechanical design, and this laptop handles all my tasks.
The conclusion. If you want this, just buy it. You will never feel a performance shortage, will be stylish, and know that you have the best in class product with all the best features.

Let me start off by saying I did tons of research on this laptop before buying and was so scared I was going to get one with a myriad of issues. But I took my chances and I think I got really lucky because mine has almost no issues, no battery problems or no wobbly trackpad. The screen is absolutely gorgeous with the slim bezels and the keyboard is wonderful to type on. It’s got a soft premium feel to it. I did uninstall a bunch of bloatware and toyed around with the settings to get it to my personal liking and to optimize performance. Definitely get rid of McAfee, you don’t need it. I deleted Dell PremierColor because it forced adaptive brightness (which is annoying af), made videos look really weird with color banding issues, and didn’t affect the color vividness otherwise anyway.
I suggest to update the Dell drivers, delete bloatware, and play around with the settings.

I’ve had the laptop for about 2 months now and haven’t had any problems yet. My performance is limited to basic computer usage, though, so I can’t say how well it performs under video and photo editing, gaming, and other very heavy loads. I use it for browsing, watching videos, listening to music, Microsoft Office, and the other usual stuff. It lets me do a bunch of things at once without heating up too much (it’ll get warm but that’s not a complaint for me). It works great for my needs. Battery life varies greatly depending on the brightness levels and what I’m doing. Sometimes I could go all day without charging and sometimes I’ll need to charge it after 4-5 hours. It just varies a lot. The only thing I think that is subpar is the camera quality, which is pretty abysmal. It’s the 2020s, it shouldn’t be that hard to provide a decent high quality camera. Still, most laptops don’t have great cameras so it’s not a deal breaker or anything and it lets you do Zoom, etc. fine; it’s just disappointing.

Overall, a beautiful laptop that performs well. I came from an old 2012 Dell laptop so this one is just miles better in every way.

I purchased this for more from Amazon than from Dell directly because of the next day vs 1 month arrival time difference. I was expecting the 3840×2400 4K resolution as listed in the specifications. That particular screen is also touch. Instead I received a 1920×1200 FHD+ non-touch screen. Turns out the product number listed is not for a 4k version. Beware, this listing is for the FHD+ non-touch version.

The 1 star is strictly for the inaccurate product description. The laptop itself is actually beautiful with a wonderful touchpad, great speakers, good keyboard, and a spacious screen in a small form factor – but I will be returning it and ordering the 4k version from Dell instead.
